Fully vaccinated? The European Union may soon be reopening its borders to you.

All fully vaccinated visitors from a list of nations considered safe will be allowed in, a spokesperson said Wednesday, although it's unclear when these new rules will go into effect.

An updated list of countries that meet the new criteria is expected soon, and many experts believe the U.S. will be included. Up until now, the list only included seven nations. Here's what to know.

It's Wednesday, and this is the Coronavirus Watch from the USA TODAY Network. Here's more news you need to know:

The seven-day average of new cases has dropped to numbers not seen since March 2020, according to the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Health care providers may be overcounting the number of kids hospitalized for COVID-19, overestimating the small impact the disease has on children, a new study found.
White House coronavirus response senior adviser Andy Slavitt on Tuesday urged young Americans to get vaccinated, saying his own son is battling long-haul symptoms of the infection.
Japan continues to struggle with COVID-19 but is still scheduled to open its doors for the Summer Games, beginning July 23.
India reported a record 4,329 daily fatalities Tuesday.

Today's numbers: The U.S. has reported more than 33 million COVID-19 cases and 587,000 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Worldwide, there have been more than 164 million cases and more than 3.4 million deaths. Nearly 48% of people in the U.S. have received at least one vaccine shot, and more than 37% are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.
