Rise and shine! It's been a wild 24 hours in the sports world, but we'll get you caught up on everything you need to know this morning. |
The MLB trade deadline hits at 4 p.m. ET, and the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off one of the biggest deals in recent memory Thursday night. |
The reigning World Series champions finalized a six-players trade with the Washington Nationals to acquire pitcher Max Scherzer, an eight-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young winner. |
The Dodgers' pitching corps have been plagued by injuries, with Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May out, and they've also been dealing with Trevor Bauer, who is on administrative leave following allegations of sexual assault. |
Scherzer, who came back from an injury earlier this season without missing a beat, will fit right in to their rotation. The Dodgers also got shortstop Trea Turner in the deal, and gave up two double-A prospects plus switch hitter Keibert Ruiz and pitcher Josiah Gray. |

🥇 Key Olympic updates: Suni Lee kept the streak alive, becoming the fifth consecutive American woman to bring home gold in the women's gymnastics individual all-around. U.S. swimmers Lilly King, Ryan Murphy and Annie Lazor all earned medals last night, but none were gold. Tennis great Novak Djokovic also lost his chance at the fabled 'Golden Slam' when he was upset by Germany's Alexander Zerev. |

🏀 NBA Draft moves: The Detroit Pistons' rebuild just got a lot stronger with No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham, and the Houston Rockets snatched up G League star Jalen Green at No. 2. The Los Angeles Lakers also shook things up, giving up their No. 22 pick in a massive deal to acquire Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. |
🤯 CFB conference chaos: The SEC voted yesterday to admit Oklahoma and Texas to the conference after they left the Big 12 just days ago. Read about what this means for the upcoming college football season. |
